Description

Overview

The GEYA GYM10 is a DIN-rail miniature circuit breaker (MCB) rated 1A to 63A in 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P versions, with 3kA, 4.5kA or 6kA short-circuit breaking capacity and B, C or D tripping curves according to IEC/EN 60898-1 and GB/T 10963.1. It protects final circuits against overload and short circuit at 240/415V AC, 50/60Hz, and can also be used for infrequent manual switching of a line. A transparent identification window and a contact position indicator let the installer read the actual switching state of the device, which is useful during commissioning and fault finding in a crowded distribution board.

Working Principle

The GYM10 uses a thermal-magnetic release, the same proven arrangement used across modular MCBs:

  • Thermal release — a bimetal strip heats up under sustained overload and trips the mechanism with an inverse time delay, so short starting peaks are tolerated.
  • Magnetic release — on a short circuit the solenoid trips the latch within milliseconds.
  • Arc control — the arc is driven into the arc chamber, split, cooled and extinguished, then the gases are vented.
  • Curve selection — B trips at roughly 3-5 In, C at 5-10 In, D at 10-20 In, matching resistive, mixed and high-inrush loads respectively.

Key Features

  • Contact position indication — the indicator reports the position of the contacts, not only the handle position.
  • Transparent identification function — a clear window for circuit labelling, so the board stays readable after handover.
  • Busbar flexibility — double busbar as standard, single busbar wiring available as an option.
  • C65-format module — 18mm per pole (1P 18mm / 2P 36mm / 3P 54mm / 4P 72mm), so it drops into existing enclosure layouts and cover cut-outs without redesign.
  • Cage-clamp terminals — accept 0.5mm² to 25mm² conductors, tightening torque 2.0N·m.
  • Accessory-ready — can be fitted with auxiliary devices including over/under-voltage protection units and a remote motor operator.
  • Material compliance — RoHS 2.0.

Protection and Electrical Data

  • Overload and short circuit — 3000A, 4500A or 6000A rated short-circuit capacity, selected by application and prospective fault level.
  • Isolation — provides electrical separation of the circuit in the open position, as required by IEC/EN 60898-1.
  • Insulation — rated insulation voltage 500V, rated impulse withstand voltage 4kV.
  • Endurance — 20,000 mechanical operations and 10,000 electrical operations.
  • Enclosure — IP20 degree of protection, intended for installation inside a distribution board.

Installation Notes

  • Mounting — clips onto a standard 35mm DIN rail; the clip releases for tool-free removal, so a device can be swapped without dismantling the row.
  • Termination — strip the conductor to the marked length, seat it fully in the cage clamp and tighten to 2.0N·m. Re-check terminals after the first load cycles.
  • Ambient derating — the ratings are referred to 30°C. Above that, apply the correction factors in the Technical Parameters tab; a fully loaded, densely packed board is the usual reason for nuisance tripping in summer.
  • Service — the breaker is a sealed, maintenance-free device. Do not open the housing or adjust the release.

Applications

Final circuit and sub-distribution protection in:

  • Residential distribution boards and apartment blocks
  • Commercial buildings, offices, retail and hotels
  • Light industry, machine tools, precision casting and automotive plants
  • Rail, marine, energy and power utility auxiliary circuits
  • OEM control panels and modular assemblies built to a C65 layout

1. What is the GYM10 miniature circuit breaker?

The GYM10 is a modular DIN-rail miniature circuit breaker (MCB) built on a C65 internal structure, rated 1-63A at 240/415V AC, 50/60Hz, in 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P versions. It is designed to IEC/EN 60898-1 and GB/T 10963.1 for final circuits in residential, commercial and light industrial installations.

2. What are its core functions?

  • Overload protection — thermal bimetal release with inverse time characteristic.
  • Short-circuit protection — magnetic release, breaking capacity 3kA / 4.5kA / 6kA.
  • Isolation — electrical separation of the circuit in the OFF position.
  • Status reading — contact position indicator and transparent identification window.
  • Manual switching — suitable for infrequent line switching operations.

3. Which parameters decide the correct selection?

  • Rated current In — must sit between the cable capacity and the load current.
  • Tripping curve — B for resistive circuits, C for mixed and general purpose, D for transformers and motors with high inrush.
  • Breaking capacity — must equal or exceed the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation: 3000A / 4500A / 6000A.
  • Number of poles — 1P and 2P for single phase, 3P and 4P for three-phase circuits.
  • Ambient temperature — apply the correction factor, for example 0.90 at 50°C.
  • Conductor size — terminals accept 0.5-25mm².

4. What versions and options are available?

  • Breaking capacity versions — GYM10-3kA, GYM10-4.5kA, GYM10-6kA; overload and short-circuit protection performance is consistent across the three.
  • Poles and widths — 1P 18mm, 2P 36mm, 3P 54mm, 4P 72mm.
  • Wiring option — suffix T for single busbar, suffix H for double busbar.
  • Accessories — auxiliary units including over/under-voltage protection and a remote motor operator.
  • DC version — GYM10DC to IEC 60947-2, with a dedicated arc-quenching system for telecom power supplies, battery banks and DC switchgear circuits.

5. Which standards does it meet, and which markets does it serve?

  • Standards — IEC/EN 60898-1 and GB/T 10963.1 for the AC range; IEC 60947-2 for the DC range.
  • Certificates — CCC (3C) for China, CE for the EU, CB report for multi-country recognition, plus certification for the Brazilian market.
  • Material compliance — RoHS 2.0.
  • Typical markets — projects and distribution channels in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.

6. What should I watch during installation and maintenance?

  • Qualified personnel only — isolate and verify the supply before any work.
  • Torque — tighten terminals to 2.0N·m; loose terminals are the most common cause of overheating.
  • Mounting — standard 35mm DIN rail, inside an enclosure, since the device is rated IP20.
  • Heat management — leave ventilation space in fully loaded boards and derate per the temperature table.
  • Periodic check — operate the handle occasionally to keep the mechanism free, and inspect terminals for discolouration.
  • No field repair — the breaker is sealed and maintenance-free; replace it after a severe short-circuit interruption rather than opening the case.
