Description

GY-SVG series application diagram

The GY-SVG-PLUS High-Spec Static Var Generator is a high-configuration SVG / STATCOM module that connects a voltage source converter (VSC) to the grid through an LCL filter to deliver dynamic reactive power compensation, three-phase unbalance correction, power-factor correction to ≥ 0.99 and neutral-line zero-sequence current filtering — with a transient response under 50 µs and full response under 10 ms, ideal for industrial plants, EV charging, renewable energy and commercial distribution systems.

GY-SVG-PLUS — Overview

GY-SVG-PLUS is the high-spec member of GEYA’s GY-SVG family. Compared with the standard GY-SVG and the single-phase GY-SVG-5k/2L, the PLUS model adds two external CT sampling channels, stronger neutral zero-sequence current filtering (3× phase current), optimised EMC capacitive performance and improved stability.

Working Principle

The GY-SVG-PLUS connects a voltage source converter (VSC) to the power grid in parallel through an LCL filter. By precisely adjusting the amplitude and phase of the converter’s AC-side output voltage, the device dynamically and accurately compensates reactive power in the grid system. The transient response time is under 50 µs and the full response time is under 10 ms, completely avoiding over-compensation and under-compensation. The neutral-line zero-sequence current filtering capability reaches three times the phase line current, while the EMC capacitive performance and overall stability are further enhanced.

Installation Guidelines

  • Connection: The SVG is installed in parallel with the load — load current does not flow through the unit.
  • Wiring: Suitable for 3P3W and 3P4W grids; confirm grid voltage and configuration before energising.
  • Current Transformers: Two external CT channels available — confirm CT polarity and ratio in the HMI before commissioning.
  • Ventilation: Maintain clearance around the air inlet / outlet; cooling is forced air with independent ducts. Ambient -10 °C to +50 °C (derate above 40 °C).
  • Altitude: Derate capacity per GB/T 3859.2 above 2000 m.
  • Cable entry: Top entry for wall-mount, rear entry for rack-mount.
  • Grounding: Reliable PE grounding is mandatory for EMC performance and personnel safety.
  • Parallel operation: Ensure consistent CT signal distribution and matching firmware versions when paralleling modules.
  • Commissioning: Select the compensation mode (reactive only / reactive + unbalance), target power factor and protection thresholds on the HMI before energising the load.
  • Maintenance: Periodically clean the air filter; modules are plug-in replaceable to minimise downtime.
