GY-SVG-Cabinet Static Var Generator Overview

 System Diagram

GY-SVG series system diagram

The GY-SVG-Cabinet is a cabinet-type Static Var Generator (SVG) designed for dynamic reactive power compensation across AC220V to AC800V grids, with rated capacity from 50kvar to 900kvar. Built around a DSP+CPLD all-digital control core and three-level topology, this static var generator connects a voltage source converter (VSC) to the grid in parallel via a filter, delivering a transient response under 50μs and a full response under 10ms to prevent over-compensation and under-compensation.

Working Principle

The device connects a voltage source converter (VSC) to the grid in parallel through a filter. By regulating the amplitude and phase of the output voltage on the AC side of the converter, it provides dynamic and precise compensation for reactive power in the grid system, keeping the response at millisecond level for impact loads.

Key Features

  • Digital Control Core — DSP+CPLD architecture, three-level topology, advanced reactive power detection algorithm and PWM control strategy.
  • Modular Design — parallel connection of multiple modules, small footprint and easy maintenance.
  • Structural Design — independent air duct and separate board compartment for stable operation.
  • Multiple Sampling Modes — two external current sampling channels supporting low-voltage/high-voltage side sampling and reactive power component compensation.
  • Selectable Modes — reactive compensation only, or reactive compensation combined with three-phase unbalance compensation.
  • Performance — reactive compensation rate ≥95%, unbalance degree after compensation ≤5%.

Protection

Integrated protection covers overload, software/hardware overcurrent, grid overvoltage/undervoltage, grid voltage unbalance, power supply failure, overtemperature, frequency anomaly and short circuit protection. Overload capability is rated at 1.2 times for 60 seconds.

Installation

Vertical installation with upper-line and lower-line cable entry. Protection rating is IP20 (IP54 available on request), cooling by forced air, and noise level ≤75dB.

Applications

Suitable for industrial and commercial power grids requiring dynamic reactive power compensation and three-phase load balancing, particularly systems with impact loads that demand fast, precise correction.
