GY-ASVG Advanced Static Var Generator (220V–800V)

The GY-ASVG Advanced Static Var Generator is a next-generation, DSP+CPLD full-digital SVG built on three-level topology that delivers real-time reactive power compensation, current harmonic filtering (2nd–50th order) and three-phase unbalance correction in a single modular device. Covering the complete 220V, 380V, 500V, 690V and 800V voltage range with capacities from 3 kvar to 150 kvar per module, it achieves a reactive compensation rate ≥ 99%, harmonic compensation rate ≥ 95% and overall efficiency ≥ 97%, making it the ideal power-quality solution for demanding industrial and commercial grids.

Overview

The GY-ASVG (Advanced/Enhanced Static Var Generator) is a comprehensive power-quality compensation platform. Its modular design allows multiple modules to be connected in parallel with a small footprint and easy maintenance, while independent air ducts and isolated PCB compartments ensure stable long-term operation in dusty and warm environments. With two external current sampling channels, it supports versatile compensation strategies — low-voltage-side sampling with low-voltage-side compensation, high-voltage-side sampling with low-voltage-side compensation, and reactive-component compensation.

Working Principle

The GY-ASVG connects a voltage source inverter (VSC) in parallel to the power grid through a filter. It detects the load current in real time and, based on advanced detection and control algorithms for reactive power, harmonics and three-phase active power, generates the corresponding IGBT drive signals. This achieves comprehensive, dynamic compensation for reactive current, harmonic current and three-phase unbalanced current, completely avoiding over-compensation and under-compensation.

Key Features

  • DSP+CPLD Full-Digital Control Core: Three-level topology with advanced reactive/harmonic detection algorithm and precise PWM control for high accuracy.
  • 3-in-1 Selectable Compensation: Reactive (A), Harmonic (B) and Three-phase Unbalance (C) — any one, two or three functions can be combined.
  • High Compensation Accuracy: Reactive rate ≥ 99%; harmonic rate ≥ 95% across the 2nd–50th orders with per-order adjustable rate; residual unbalance ≤ 5%.
  • Powerful Neutral Filtering: Neutral-line zero-sequence current filtering capacity is 2× the phase line (3× customizable).
  • Dual External CT Channels: Flexible LV-side / HV-side sampling and reactive-component compensation modes.
  • Millisecond Dynamic Response: Reactive full response < 10 ms; harmonic full response < 40 ms.
  • Modular & Scalable: Unlimited parallel units for higher capacity, small footprint, easy plug-in maintenance.
  • Robust Design: Independent air ducts, 1.2× overload for 60 s, comprehensive protection, and dual RS485 with Wi-Fi support.

1. What is the GY-ASVG?

The GY-ASVG is an Advanced (Enhanced) Static Var Generator — a power-electronic compensation device that connects a voltage source inverter in parallel with the grid through a filter. Built on a DSP+CPLD three-level digital control core, it detects load current in real time and generates the corresponding IGBT drive signals to dynamically compensate reactive current, harmonic current and three-phase unbalanced current. It covers the full 220V–800V range with capacities from 3 kvar to 150 kvar per module.

2. What core functions does it provide?

It delivers a 3-in-1 power-quality solution: real-time reactive power compensation (rate ≥ 99%, power factor correction), current harmonic filtering (rate ≥ 95%, 2nd–50th order with per-order adjustable rate), and three-phase unbalance correction (residual ≤ 5%). It also provides neutral-line zero-sequence current filtering at 2× the phase line (3× customizable), voltage stabilization and comprehensive protection. Functions A, B and C can be selected individually or in combination.

3. Which parameters affect model selection?

Key selection factors include: grid voltage (220V / 380V / 500V / 690V / 800V) and configuration (3P3W or 3P4W); required capacity in kvar (with unlimited parallel expansion for larger loads); compensation goal (reactive, harmonic, unbalance, or combinations); CT sampling scheme (LV-side or HV-side); installation environment (ambient temperature, altitude derating, IP rating); form factor and cable entry; and communication / parallel-expansion needs.

4. What options / specifications are available?

Voltage models: 220V, 380V, 500V, 690V and 800V. Capacities: 3–75 kvar (220V), 5–150 kvar (380V), 90 kvar (500V), 120 kvar (690V), 150 kvar (800V). Wiring: 3P3W or 3P4W. Function: A (reactive), B (harmonic), C (unbalance) and their combinations. Form factor: rack-mounted or wall-mounted. Protection rating: IP20 standard, IP54 customizable. Communication: 2× RS485 with Wi-Fi support.

5. Which standards does it meet and which markets is it designed for?

The GY-ASVG is designed in accordance with international power-quality and EMC requirements, with altitude derating following GB/T 3859.2 and support for IEC 61000 power-quality compliance and typical utility power-factor / voltage-quality codes. It is engineered for industrial, commercial and infrastructure markets worldwide — including manufacturing plants, metallurgy and mining, oil & gas, EV charging, renewable energy plants, data centers, telecom, healthcare and rail transit.

6. What are the installation and maintenance precautions?

The unit is wired in parallel with the load (never in series), so load current does not flow through it. Confirm the grid voltage and 3P3W / 3P4W configuration, and verify CT polarity and ratio on both sampling channels before commissioning. Maintain clearance around the forced-air intakes; operate within -10 °C to +50 °C (derate above 40 °C) and derate per GB/T 3859.2 above 2000 m. Use top cable entry for wall-mount and rear entry for rack-mount, and ensure reliable PE grounding. Configure the compensation mode and protection thresholds via HMI/Wi-Fi before energising. Periodically clean the air filter; modules are plug-in replaceable to minimise downtime.
