GY-AHF-Cabinet Active Harmonic Filter Overview

System Diagram

System Diagram of GY-AHF series products

The GY-AHF-Cabinet is a cabinet-type Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) mainly consisting of AC distribution, an AHF module, a monitoring system and auxiliary components, supporting AC220V to AC800V grids with rated compensation current from 100A to 900A. This active harmonic filter connects a voltage source inverter to the grid in parallel through a filter; by detecting the load current in real time and using a specified sub-harmonic current detection algorithm, it gradually separates the harmonic current and drives the IGBT to output a compensation current with the same amplitude and opposite phase as the load harmonic current, achieving harmonic compensation.

Working Principle

The device connects a voltage source inverter in parallel to the power grid through a filter. By detecting the load current in real time and using a specified sub-harmonic current detection algorithm, the harmonic current is gradually separated. According to the set filtering percentage, a control signal is generated to drive the IGBT to output a compensation current with the same amplitude and opposite phase as the load harmonic current.

Key Features

  • Digital Control Core — DSP+CPLD full-digital control core, three-level topology, advanced harmonic detection algorithm and PWM control strategy.
  • Modular Design — multiple modules connected in parallel, small footprint and easy maintenance.
  • Structural Design — independent air duct and independent plate compartment for stable operation.
  • Current Limiting — 100% current limiting output can be set for long-term stable operation.
  • Selectable Modes — harmonic compensation only, or harmonic compensation + three-phase unbalance compensation.
  • Harmonic Capability — compensation rate ≥95% for 2nd to 50th harmonics, individual rate adjustable.

Protection

Integrated protection covers overload, software/hardware overcurrent, grid overvoltage/undervoltage, grid voltage unbalance, power supply failure, overtemperature, frequency anomaly and short circuit protection. Overload capability is rated at 1.2 times for 60 seconds.

Installation

Vertical installation with upper-line and lower-line cable entry. Protection rating is IP20 (IP54 customizable), cooling by forced air, and noise level ≤75dB.

Applications

Suitable for industrial and commercial power grids requiring harmonic mitigation and three-phase load balancing, particularly systems with nonlinear loads that generate significant harmonic current.

1. What is the GY-AHF-Cabinet?

The GY-AHF-Cabinet is a cabinet-type Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) consisting of AC distribution, an AHF module, a monitoring system and auxiliary components. It connects a voltage source inverter to the grid in parallel to filter harmonic current.

2. What are its core functions?

  • Harmonic Compensation — rate ≥95% for 2nd to 50th harmonics.
  • Unbalance Correction — unbalance degree after compensation ≤5%.
  • Fast Response — full response time <40ms.
  • Current Limiting — 100% current limiting output selectable.

3. Which key parameters affect selection?

  • Operating Voltage — AC220V, 380V, 500V, 690V or 800V.
  • Rated Current — from 100A up to 900A.
  • Grid Configuration — three-phase three-wire or three-phase four-wire.
  • Function Mode — harmonic only, or harmonic + unbalance compensation.

4. Which specifications / models are available?

Five voltage models are offered: 220V, 380V, 500V, 690V and 800V. The modular design supports multiple modules in parallel, and cabinet configuration can be adjusted according to compensation current requirements.

5. What standards and target markets does it suit?

Altitude derating follows GB/T 3859.2, pollution degree is ≤ Class III, and protection rating is IP20 (IP54 customizable). It targets industrial and commercial power systems with nonlinear loads requiring harmonic mitigation.
