Description
Quiet control for modular distribution systems
The GHC7 hum-free modular contactor is designed for switching AC loads in homes, apartments, hotels and building-control systems. Its modular enclosure mounts on a standard 35 mm DIN rail, helping panel builders add controlled switching for lighting, electric heating, ventilation equipment, pumps and other low-inductive or slightly inductive loads without using a large industrial contactor.
The range covers 16 A to 63 A models, one to four poles and a choice of normally open and normally closed contact arrangements. Coil options of 12, 24, 48, 110 and 230 V AC/DC make the family suitable for a variety of control circuits. The AC/DC designation applies to the coil voltage Uc; the power contacts in this catalog are rated for AC main-circuit applications.
Why choose the GHC7 series?
- Hum-free design: developed for low-noise control in occupied buildings. No numerical sound-pressure value is claimed.
- Compact DIN-rail format: widths from one to three modules, depending on current rating and pole count.
- Broad configuration range: 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P versions with practical NO/NC combinations.
- Flexible coils: 12/24/48/110/230 V AC/DC control-voltage options.
- Documented endurance: 1,000,000 mechanical operating cycles and 100,000 electrical cycles under the catalog’s stated conditions.
- Useful accessories: optional GHC7-AUC11 (1NO+1NC) and GHC7-AUC20 (2NO) auxiliary contacts, plus 3 mm and 9 mm spacers.
Typical applications
GHC7 is intended for indoor distribution boards and dedicated control panels. Typical duties include scheduled or remotely controlled lighting, electric heating, ventilation fans, circulation pumps and other household or building-service loads. Domestic motor loads may also be controlled when the lower AC-7b/AC-3 rating is observed. The contactor performs switching; it does not replace the required overcurrent, short-circuit, residual-current or motor-protection devices in the installation.
Control-system integration
A compatible timer, thermostat, relay output or building controller can energize the selected coil to switch the main contacts. Match the control device to the ordered coil voltage and its electrical demand, and keep the control and power circuits coordinated with the project design. Where electronic controls and several electromechanical devices share an enclosure, allow suitable separation and ventilation to limit heat transfer.
Select by utilization category
The model current alone must not be used for every load type. Choose the device according to the load’s utilization category, operating current, pole arrangement and coil voltage. Resistive or slightly inductive loads use the AC-7a/AC-1 column, while domestic motor duties use the lower AC-7b/AC-3 value.
| GHC7 model current | AC-7a / AC-1 | AC-7b / AC-3 |
|---|---|---|
| 16 A | 16 A | 6 A |
| 20 A | 20 A | 7 A |
| 25 A | 25 A | 9 A |
| 32 A | 32 A | 12 A |
| 40 A | 40 A | 18 A |
| 63 A | 63 A | 25 A |
Configurations and ordering
The ordering code combines the frame current and contact arrangement. Available contact suffixes include 1NO or 1NC for 1P; 2NO, 1NO+1NC or 2NC for 2P; 3NO or 3NC for 3P; and 4NO, 4NC, 2NO+2NC or 3NO+1NC for 4P. For example, GHC7-25/20 24V AC/DC identifies a 25 A frame, two normally open contacts and a 24 V AC/DC coil.
When requesting a quotation, specify the load type and operating current, main-circuit voltage, number of poles, required NO/NC arrangement, coil voltage, quantity and any auxiliary contacts or spacers. GEYA can then confirm the exact code and current documentation for the intended market.
Installation essentials
The contactor is installed vertically on a 35 mm DIN rail, with up to ±30° permitted around the vertical orientation. The device enclosure is IP20; IP40 applies only when the product is correctly installed inside a suitable modular enclosure. The specified operating range is -5°C to +60°C. Provide ventilation and appropriate spacing where enclosure temperature may rise, especially with multiple contactors mounted side by side.
Installation and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel with the supply isolated. Use the conductor sizes, stripping lengths and terminal torques specified for the selected current frame. After installation, verify the model diagram, contact state, control voltage and protective coordination before energizing the circuit.
