Fire Safety Linkage & Emergency Isolation
In modern building electrical design, fire safety codes mandate the disconnection of all “non-fire-related power supplies” during an emergency. Traditional ATS designs without a neutral position often require additional auxiliary contactors. The GATS-W8Z is equipped with a dedicated 24VDC fire linkage interface. Upon receiving a fire alarm signal, it can be remotely triggered and forced into a “double-break” (OFF) neutral state, instantly achieving complete physical isolation, perfectly complying with stringent fire safety standards.
When switching high currents under load, contact separation inevitably generates high-temperature electrical arcs. If traditional two-position designs are used, arcs can easily bridge the gap, leading to a catastrophic phase-to-phase short circuit. The GATS-W8Z utilizes a genuine three-position mechanical structure. Its intermediate “neutral” position serves as a critical buffer and isolation zone for mechanical movement and arc extinguishing. It ensures the arc is completely extinguished before closing the other power source.
Maintenance Safety & Physical Isolation
When performing routine maintenance within a power distribution cabinet, strict adherence to “dead-work” procedures is the absolute baseline for personal safety. The GATS-W8Z supports a manual operation mode, allowing maintenance personnel to manually shift the switch to the intermediate “double-break” position. This operation establishes a clearly visible and complete physical isolation breakpoint, effectively preventing accidental equipment activation or unexpected energization.
Intelligent Interlock & Prevent Faulty Transfers
If a short-circuit fault occurs causing the main power supply to trip, a blind automatic transfer would cause the backup power source to close directly onto the short circuit. As a high-end CB-class ATS, the GATS-W8Z features a built-in intelligent controller. Once it detects a trip caused by a downstream short circuit, the smart brain immediately executes an “electrical interlock”, terminates the automatic transfer sequence, and locks the switch in the neutral position.
