Project Overview
Driven by strong government incentives and rising energy demands, Vietnam has rapidly emerged as a premier leader in Southeast Asian solar energy. To combat power outages and grid instability in urban manufacturing hubs, rooftop solar adoption is expanding at an unprecedented rate.
In this context, GEYA partnered with InSolar, a prominent solar solutions provider in Vietnam. We designed and supplied core components for an AC/DC Hybrid Distribution Box tailored for a factory's solar grid-tied/off-grid system in Ho Chi Minh City. GEYA remains highly optimistic about the solar power management and energy storage industry, fully supporting Vietnam's green energy transition with reliable electrical infrastructure.
How the System Works
The distribution box acts as the brain of the factory's power network, seamlessly blending the local EVN (Vietnam Electricity) utility grid with the factory's own Photovoltaic (PV) array.
At the top of the panel sits a Dual Power Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). During normal operations, the system utilizes solar energy to power the factory loads. However, in the event of severe grid fluctuations or a complete blackout, the ATS automatically and instantly switches to the backup off-grid storage or stable grid lines. The lower rails are equipped with GEYA's specialized DC breakers and Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) to safely manage the high-voltage direct current generated by the solar panels.
Overcoming Challenges & Technical Support
Integrating high-voltage solar DC with standard AC loads requires precise engineering to prevent short circuits, overloads, and lightning surges. Furthermore, local electricians needed to ensure the ATS logic was wired flawlessly to prevent back-feeding into the dead grid.
- Component Synergy: Supplied perfectly matched DC MCBs (GYM9) and DC SPDs (GSP6-C40PV) to handle the specific demands of solar arrays.
- Installation Guidance: Provided fundamental technical support for the assembly of the distribution box and accessories.
- Troubleshooting & Documentation: Delivered detailed paper manuals, wiring diagrams, and remote troubleshooting assistance to ensure a smooth, error-free commissioning process in Ho Chi Minh City.
