What are Circuit Breakers?

An electrical switch designed to guard an electrical circuit against being damaged which is caused by overcurrent/overload or a short circuit is known as a circuit breaker. Its main duty is to interrupt current flow after protective relays notice a problem.

Electrical Circuit has Four Main Parts

An all-electric circuit, regardless of where it is or how large or small it is, has four basic parts: an energy source (AC or DC), a conductor (wire), an electrical load (device), and at least one controller (switch).

Types of Circuit Breaker

There are three main types of circuit breakers and they are standard breakers (which include both single-pole and double-pole circuit breakers), ground fault circuit interrupter circuit breakers (GFCIs), and arc fault circuits interrupter circuit breakers (AFCIs).

The Function Of a Circuit Breaker Switch

A circuit breaker function by being a safety device thereby preventing damage to motors and wiring when the current flowing through the electrical circuit supersedes its design limits. It does this by removing the current from a circuit when an unsafe condition arises.

The Way Electric Breaker Works

An electrical circuit is composed of a source of electrical power, two wires that can carry electric current, and a light bulb. One end of both the wires is connected to the terminal of a cell while their unoccupied ends are connected to the light bulb. The electrical circuit is broken when the bulb is switched off.

The Purpose Of a Circuit

Electricity can flow through a closed-loop known as a circuit. An enclosed circuit allows an unbroken flow of electricity from the source of power, through the conductor or wire, to the load, and then back again to the ground or source of power.
